A supplier who can quote diameter and length but cannot explain how straightness and runout are measured has told you something useful about their process.
Ask what happens to out-of-tolerance rollers. Rework, scrap, or ship anyway. This one question reveals process discipline better than any capability statement.
Ask for a dimensional record from a comparable order. Check whether it lists per-piece values with instrument and positions, or only a pass/fail stamp.
Order a sample. One or two rollers in a non-critical position, run for several weeks. Real production data beats any catalogue claim.
Fix the commercial terms in writing. Lead time, packaging, shipping, damage policy.
Marks repeating at roller pitch point to the roller or its alignment. Random marks, or marks concentrated at glass edges, more often point to handling, contamination, or thermal settings. Replacing rollers before that distinction is made risks changing a component that was not the cause.
Purchase price is the least informative number. Compare cost per year of service: price, replacement labour, downtime, rejected glass, and spare inventory. In continuous operation, downtime dominates. In low-duty shops, price legitimately matters more.
