Modern Paper Machines Demand More Than Higher Speed

Increasing production speed has become a common objective for paper mills seeking greater output and lower manufacturing costs. However, simply operating a paper machine at a higher speed does not automatically improve overall performance.

The forming section must maintain an effective balance between drainage capacity, fiber retention and sheet formation. If one factor is optimized at the expense of another, production stability and paper quality may suffer.

Selecting the appropriate forming fabric helps establish the right balance between drainage capacity and fiber support.

Properly designed dewatering elements—including forming boards, hydrofoils and vacuum suction boxes—create progressive drainage while protecting sheet formation.

At the same time, advanced retention and drainage aid systems improve fiber recovery, enhance drainage performance and stabilize machine operation.

Routine monitoring of wet-end conditions, including pH, conductivity and dissolved contaminants, further contributes to consistent production performance.
