The process utilizes high frequency AC voltage (5000-15000V/m²) to create low temperature plasma that modifies the plastic surface through free group reactions and polymer cross-linking. This treatment increases surface roughness and wettability to polar solvents, while oxidation and polarization of surface molecules enhances substrate adhesion.

Corona treatment modifies substrate surface energy to improve bonding with printing inks, coatings, and adhesives. While other methods like flame treatment exist, corona treatment remains a preferred post-processing solution for many industrial applications.
