How Does It Work?
The core principle of CIPP UV curing involves using ultraviolet light to harden a resin-saturated liner directly inside the host pipe. The process typically follows these steps:
1) Cleaning & Inspection: The existing pipeline is first cleaned using high-pressure water jets and inspected with CCTV cameras to assess the damage.
2) Liner Installation: A flexible tube (liner), usually made of fiberglass and fully impregnated with a light-sensitive thermosetting resin, is pulled into the damaged pipe section.
3) Inflation: The liner is inflated with air pressure from a built-in blower system. This causes it to expand and press tightly against the inner walls of the old pipe.
4) UV Curing: A robotic UV light train (a series of powerful UV LED lamps mounted on a carriage) is winched through the inflated liner at a controlled speed. As the lights pass through, they trigger an instant photopolymerization reaction in the resin, transforming the soft liner into a rigid, high-strength "new pipe".
5) Completion: Once cured, the end seals are removed, and service connections are reopened. The entire process often takes just a few hours, significantly minimizing traffic disruption and environmental impact.
